Bret Harte letter : ALS : Washington, D.C., to E. A. Buck, 1877 October 16.

Harte responds to a request for a "piece," objecting to the theme of babies which has been suggested to him ("Don't you think there is already a little too much of the 'Baby' in literature?"). Harte requests Buck's "sober second thoughts" and reminds him that his [Harte's] current rate is 150 dollars for 3000 words.
